2019 Innovator Awards

How do you honor visionaries like Julianne Moore, Tyler the Creator, Melina Matsoukas, and Eddie Murphy in a way that encapsulates their bold personalities and groundbreaking talents? The Wall Street Journal Magazine tasked us with answering that question for their 2019 Innovator Awards, for which we developed a series of short hand-drawn scenes memorializing key moments in the lives and careers of each honoree.

Artistic Approach

Osmosis developed the overall conceptual and visual approach and led all phases of the project – from scripting through design, storyboarding, voiceover direction, and animation. The resulting eight-part series celebrates the honorees through elegant and inventive progressions in a sketchbook aesthetic.

These films were highlighted across Wall Street Journal Magazine’s social media channels and shown at the 2019 awards gala at The Museum of Modern Art.
