St. Petersburg Paradox Animation

What do merchants, pirates, and the high seas have to do with modern day financial risk mitigation? Osmosis Films answered that question in an animated explainer film based on Chapter Two of Mark Spitznagel’s book, Safe Haven: Investing for Financial Storms, which explores the St. Petersburg Paradox.

Approach

Using a highly stylized 2D & 3D animation approach we brought the St. Petersburg Paradox to life as a moving painting. If you look closely, you will notice author Mark Spitznagel is animated as the merchant!

Results

The St. Petersburg Merchant animation can be seen on the homepage of Universa’s website, as well as on a number of their social media channels. Osmosis animated another chapter from Safe Haven which uses the metaphor of a Formula 1 race to explore the Narrow Framing Problem.
